Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actor, singer, and model. She was known as the co-star in Prince's 1984 movie Purple Rain, and the vocalist for the girl group Apollonia 6 Apollonia was named an actress and singer by Prince. The 1980s were a time of change for her, she became one among many other artists that benefited from Prince. Patricia Kotero was born in Santa Monica, California in the year 1959. Her career started as a model in the latter part of 1970. Kotero also made an appearance on CHiPS. In 1984, the actress was cast as the leading lady in Prince's Purple Rain. (During this period of time, he also changed her name.) She then replaced Vanity as a member of the female trio Vanity 6 which starred in the movie with Apollonia 6 under their name. Her performance had more influence on the charts by being Prince's mate in Take Me with You, the duet on the soundtrack. After a dispute regarding the direction she was taking in her career Apollonia 6 broke up, and Kotero quit her relationship with Prince. She then appeared in a couple of films that were minor in the late 1980s (reportedly not accepting the opportunity to appear in the Purple Rain-follow-up Under the Cherry Moon), before settling on acting in a role at night for the film Falcon Crest in 1985-1986. Apollonia's debut album was released in 1988. The R&B and dance tracks were not well received by the music buying public. They soon ceased to exist. Apollonia was active, even if not under the spotlight, as an actor during the decade following with small appearances in films and on television. An exercise DVD was made available. Apollonia released a CD in Spanish and English entitled Stay with me in 1997. In later years, after getting back to university and earning the degree of filmmaking, she started her own production company. Apollonia Kotero has many roles.
